Research Facilities / Equipment
We aim to facilitate research by provision of relevant state-of-the-art technology platforms and equipment related to the teaching, training and research in the Chemical, Synthetic & Systems Biology disciplines and to forge appropriate infrastructure networks with the wider University and national communities.

Our current facilities include:

  • Mass spectrometry
    - Thermo Q-Exactive hybrid quadrupole-Orbitrap mass spec
    - Thermo TSQ Vantage triple quadrupole mass spec
    - ABSciex AB48000 MALDI ToF/ToF mass spec
  • HPLC (Dionex Ultimate 3500 RSnano UPLC; Proxeon Easy-LC; Dionex Ultimate 3000 nano-LC; Agilent 1200 HPLC)
  • UV/VIS- and fluorescence spectrometry
  • Raman spectrometry
  • Isothermal titrating calorimetry
  • Bacterial and eukaryotic cell culture and engineering infrastructure
  • Recombinant protein expression and purification infrastructure
  • Phage displayed antibody libraries
  • Protein microarrayers and microarray scanners
  • We also have access to two BSL3 laboratories for work with live infectious organisms, as well as to live cell imaging and confocal microscopy instrumentation.
